| 4. | Description | Abstract | Di Indonesia kanker serviks merupakan salah satu kanker penyebab kematian wanita setelah kanker payudara. Herba kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L) banyak digunakan sebagai alternatif pengobatan kanker. Tujuan: mengetahui efek sitotoksik dari herba kemangi terhadap sel HeLa dan sel Vero. Metode: ekstraksi herba kemangi dilakukan dengan maserasi kemudian difraksinasi menggunakan pelarut n-heksan, etil asetat dan air. Ekstrak dan fraksi diuji efek sitotoksiknya menggunakan metode MTT dengan seri konsentrasi 500; 250; 125; 62,5; 31,25; 15,625 µg/mL. Cisplastin digunakan sebagai kontrol positif dan kontrol sel sebagai kontrol negatif. Hasil: aktivitas sitotoksik ekstrak, fraksi n-heksan, etil asetat dan air herba kemangi terhadap sel HeLa menunjukkan nilai IC50 berturut-turut yaitu (156,27; 120,55; 170,17; 186,62) µg/ml dengan indeks selektivitas lebih dari 3 untuk ekstrak dan ketiga fraksi. Kesimpulan: ekstrak dan fraksi herba kemangi memiliki efek sebagai agen kemopreventif terhadap sel kanker serviks. |
